HEALING THROUGH THEATER AND THERAPY
Healing Stages: Where Expression Meets Healing (LAUNCHING 2027)
Healing Stages is a signature youth program of Wellness Bridge Foundation designed for children and teens ages 6–17 who have been impacted by a parent’s or caregiver’s cancer journey.
When cancer enters a household, it affects the entire family — especially children. Healing Stages creates a safe, structured space where young people can process complex emotions, build resilience, and connect with others who understand what they’re going through.
Through theater, creative writing, and expressive arts therapy, we transform the stage into a place of comfort, courage, and connection.
Whether a child is navigating a loved one’s diagnosis, active treatment, survivorship, or loss, they are not alone here.

Our Approach to Healing
Healing Stages blends licensed therapeutic support with creative expression to support emotional well-being.
Drama & Arts Therapy Sessions
Led by licensed mental health professionals and trained teaching artists, participants engage in improvisation, storytelling, movement, and character exploration to safely express emotions that may feel too difficult to name. Creative play becomes a pathway to healing.
Script Writing & Storytelling
Children and teens develop their own narratives, drawing from personal experiences to co-create powerful, meaningful scripts. By shaping their stories, participants gain confidence, voice, and agency.
Live & Virtual Performances
Throughout the Healing Stages program, participants engage in live and virtual performances that use theater as a pathway to healing, emotional expression, and resilience. Through guided storytelling and creative collaboration, youth build confidence, strengthen their voice, and experience the power of being seen and supported in community.
Group Discussions & Reflection
Every session includes intentional space for facilitated discussion and emotional processing. Youth are supported in feeling seen, heard, and validated in a community of peers.

What Healing Stages Provides
Children often carry silent stress when a parent or caregiver is battling cancer or chronic illness. Without safe outlets, those emotions can surface in isolation, anxiety, or withdrawal.
Healing Stages provides:
-
Emotional expression in a supportive environment
-
Age-appropriate coping tools
-
Peer connection and shared understanding
-
Licensed therapeutic guidance
-
Strengthened resilience during family health crises
This is care for the whole family.
Who Can Participate?
Healing Stages serves children and teens ages 6–17 who have been impacted by a parent’s or caregiver’s cancer journey — including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, or bereavement.
Programs may be offered in person or virtually depending on location and need.

Why Youth Support Matters
When cancer or chronic illness enters a household, children feel it — even when no one says a word.
They notice the appointments, the fatigue, the financial stress. Yet their emotional needs often go unaddressed.
Children impacted by a parent or caregiver’s illness face increased risk for anxiety, academic disruption, and unprocessed grief.
Healing Stages exists to interrupt that cycle.
Through licensed therapeutic support blended with creative expression, young people gain a safe space to process emotions, build resilience, and feel less alone.
This is not extracurricular programming.
It is preventative mental health support.
It is family stabilization.
It is long-term community investment.
