About Walk by Faith

Care . Compassion . Community

Our Story

Walk by Faith (WBF) was founded in 2020 by Stacy Atwater Jones in honor of her mother, Marian Elizabeth Atwater, who battled cancer from 1996-2001. Friends and family members organized a walk to honor Marian and breast cancer survivors in October 2020.

Annual Breast Cancer Walk for Life

A year later, on October 16, 2021, the inaugural WBF Breast Cancer Walk for Life was held. This event aims to raise funds for breast cancer services, making daily struggles easier for those impacted by the disease. We offer survivors and patients a supportive community to rely on in times of difficulty. The cancer walk also honors the resilient survivors and caregivers. During this event, we come together to pray for the health and wellness of the survivors and to remember the loved ones we have lost.

We uplift and support women through personalized breast cancer services.

After the 2021 walk, Stacy was motivated to continue working towards this great cause. She wanted to ensure that women in her community received the educational, financial, and emotional support required to lead a quality life after diagnosis.

In 2022, Stacy merged WBF with Wholeness Corporation,a nonprofit she founded in 2019. Wholeness Corporation continues her mother’s lifelong pursuit to help others with the unwavering faith she showed when she was ill.

The verse, “Walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians. 5:6-8), reminds us to put faith over fear to find inner strength, comfort, and patience to overcome challenges.

With that in mind, WBF provides unique holistic breast cancer services to women, which include emotional support, free transportation services, care counseling, nutrition and fitness programs, and spiritual counseling. Our proactive approach and practical involvement provide families and individuals with the stable support they need to navigate through emerging uncertainties created by cancer.

We work with a network of volunteers, corporate partners, and local charity groups to achieve our goals.

Mission

Walk by Faith is committed to empowering women, families, and caregivers by providing free breast cancer services to make medical care and counseling services accessible to everyone. Our compassionate team provides individualized support to promote quality care and comfort.

Vision

We visualize a future where WBF can become the primary resource for free breast cancer services and screenings. We currently serve uninsured and underinsured women in Baltimore, Howard County, Prince George’s County, and Washington D.C., but we hope to one day provide nationwide services.

Our Values

Care

WBF offers client-orientated care by aligning services with individual needs, beliefs, and expectations. In doing so, we create target-focused channels that give cancer patients access to relevant resources for the journey from diagnosis to remission.

Compassion

Our Hope Heroes foster a safe and caring environment for clients. We treat each woman with dignity and respect, ensuring they feel comfortable during consultation and support services.

Community

WBF functions as a small support group for breast cancer patients and survivors.

We stay connected online and through 1:1 consultations or  Sisters Helping Sisters programs, etc. We share inspirational affirmations and religious verses via text to spread positivity and hope.
